Fish Stocking

Our company can provide you with a variety of fish stocking options to suit your particular needs. Some situations may require the installation of an herbivorous fish to control algae or unwanted plant growth, or perhaps you are interested in stocking your lake with game fish. Whatever your fish stocking needs we have the licenses, tools and resources to get the job done. Below are some examples of the fish we are able to provide for you.
Triploid Grass Carp
An excellent choice for constant control of vegetation in your pond. Be warned that a state permit is required to possess or stock these fish. If your lake has a required littoral (planted area) the state may deny any permit. Aquatic Consulting will assist you through the entire process from achieving a permit to building and installing containment barriers until final delivery of your hungry new carp; we are there every step of the way. Although these fish require some additional legwork we have found the results to be well worth the trouble, quite simply lakes with grass carp remain cleaner and more beautiful than their counterparts. If you are tired of unwanted lake vegetation please call for a free analysis of your pond, to see if Grass Carp are right for you.

Tilapia
A vegetarian like the Carp this fish will constantly nibble on algae in your lakes. Although they prefer planktonic (blue/green) algae, the Tilapia will also nibble on filamentous algae mats as well as duckweed and other small floating plants. Since no permit or other hassle is required tilapia are a relatively easy and inexpensive method of algae control. A small population of these fish will quickly breed into a large colony of algae eaters. Take note that tilapia may tend to crowd out game fish such as largemouth bass, therefore they may not be a good choice for some applications.

Large Mouth Bass

Game Fish Stocking
We can bring a pond from sterile to fertile by stocking a mixture of local game fish. If you have a new pond or want to increase your game fish populations we can bring your pond back to life. A typical stocking consists of equal parts largemouth bass, bluegill, channel catfish and minnows to act as a food source. Due to their spawning cycle largemouth bass fingerlings are available only in late April, all other fish are available year round. We can also provide adult largemouth bass in the .5 to 4 Lb range, these Bass are generally available year round.
